10 Things I Snuck Into Casey's Back Pack on the Night Before He Starts Kindergarten

From Jeff...

  1.  There is a quarter in the front pocket.  When making a major life decision – flip it.  It will work out about 50% of the time.  Those aren’t bad odds.
  2. Three sealed mason jars
    1. the first has got a lion’s roar
    2. the second: the smell of chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven
    3.  the last one:  firefly glow…
open the appropriate one when necessary.

3.  Your teddy bear – don’t tell anybody but I still take mine to work everyday – most guys do – we don’t talk about it – but we all know…

4.  A brand new box of 64 crayons with colors like Dented Dreams, Toothless Smile, Grandma’s Blessings, Tip Cup, Road-trip, Backyard Tire Swing, Happy Dog Breath and Bacon.

5.  Band Aids – get scratched and scraped up. An unbruised knee is one that hasn’t lived!

6.  Mixed tape with The Clash, The Ramones, Minor Threat, the MC5, early Stooges, Fugazi, The Misfits and Patti Smith – there are going to be a lot of rules to follow – this will provide some much needed balance

7.  The 23rd Psalm – I tore it out of my bible.  In the case of an emergency – fold it into a Japanese crane, go the nearest window, release it and see what happens.

8.  A whole pint of peanut butter ice cream – no metaphor here – this stuff is just damn good.

9.  A clean pair of underwear.  You just never know…you just never know….

10.  A map (I drew it with the help of your mom) – it will work everyday for the rest of your life – no matter where you are – it will always get you home…
