Camp Week

This week was pretty full - the boys participated in two camps. Every morning they spent 2.5 hours at church at Creative Kids Camp - they learned dancing, singing, ringing chimes and some sign language. They really loved it! It had not occurred to me even sign them up, but someone else asked them if they wanted to go, and they wanted to. So I took them over Monday and brought a few things to do in case they didn't like it. I did the same thing the next day. By then it was clear that they were loving camp!
In the afternoon was Soccer Camp, which had been on the calendar for 2 months and they were very excited about. It was for an hour each afternoon. They learned how to pass the ball - inside of the foot, outside of the foot, laces and how to control the ball with the bottom of their foot. They also loved this!
By Wednesday the schedule was getting to Sam - he started getting very crabby at the end of Creative Kids, so I took him home and sent him to bed - conked out for 2 hours. That afternoon he was pretty groggy for Soccer camp but he made it though. The next morning Jeff took Casey over to church because Sam was still sleeping at 9:20. He slept until 10 and then I got him over there. He seemed aware that he had been really tired but was so disappointed he had missed even that 45 minutes.
So Friday was the big day - at Soccer, the kids got to play the parents in a game. What a riot. All skills learned were out the window! They all chased the ball around as a herd - quite funny. The kids beat the adults 13 to 12. A real heart breaker for us parents :)
Then Friday night we went back to church for the big show for Creative Kids - they did so great! Despite the fact that I had loitered at church most days, I had not actually seen what they were working on. It was really fun to watch the boys - they had a great time and really had learned a few things.
What a week!
