Fun Run

Casey's school had a fundraiser where the kids got pledges to run laps at the school.  They said that if this went well, there would be fewer fund raisers this year.  We all know that school budgets keep getting tighter and tighter, but now that we are in a public school, its been really intersting to see it first hand.  The list of supplies we needed to buy - not for Casey but for his classroom, the book orders that give to the school, Market Day food orders that give to the school and now the fun run.  We have only been in public school for 5 weeks!  We aren't opposed to helping out of course, its just seems like schools are under a lot of pressure to make ends meet.

Sam ran a bit too, off to the side

Casey did 7 laps
Anyway, Casey really enjoyed the Fun Run, and Sam enjoyed going watch.  We got there just as their gym teacher - who Casey loves - was leading the kindergarteners and first graders in some warm ups and stretching.  Then they got started - it was fun to see the teachers and the principal out there running too.  Casey really did run the whole time - he kept a good pace and was enjoying himself.  Lots of kids bolted out racing and then walked a lot, or some just walked the whole time.  I was proud of him - and he was quite pleased with himself too.
