The Big 4-0

Jeff is 40!  Holy cow!  We have been celebrating his birthday together since he turned 23 - yikes!  As noted in a previous post, the big commemoration of the event was surprising him with some time with his college buddies and some Tiger tickets two weeks ago.  So, the boys and I got him a few gifts and a small cake and we had a little family celebration the evening before his birthday.  Then the Tigers won a chance to play for the Pennant.  On the actual birthday, we woke up to a professionally done display in our yard that says "Jeff's a 40 Year old Buzzard" which cracked us up.  As of this blogging, no individual or group has taken credit for this act, but we know its someone with a good sense of hunor who knew Jeff has one too.
At night, I took Jeff out to see "Moneyball" (worth seeing!) and to dinner at an Irish Pub where we ingested more than our quota of fried food and the Brewers won their spot in the NLCS.  It's always fun when Jeff's favorite teams are still playing around his birthday.
Detroit is a pretty fun sports town right now - the Tigers series starts tonight and the Lions are 4-0 and headed for Monday Night Football this week.  The Lions have not been 4-0 since, well, let's just say no one remembers it.  And while we still wear cheese on our heads at any opportunity, it is fun to see this team do well.  We have been living among their disappointed fans for 14 years and it would be an understatement to say that Detroit can use something to rally around.
Anyway, Happy 40th Birthday Jeff!!!  Here's to many many more, you old buzzard!  :)
