The Party

Over the weekend some friends got together and we celebrated Sam and Casey's birthdays.  It was warm but a beautiful day and the boys really had a great time.  Casey was very into the idea of "my birthday party".  As people arrived he would yell - the guests are arriving, we can start my party now!  In the beginning we said "Sam's party too" a lot but realizing that Sam wasn't taking offense let it go.  Earlier in the day they opened new shirts from Grammy and Grandpa and both wanted to wear them so this means they have dressed a like twice in one month.  We better watch it!
Their two distinct personalities are really showing and it's so fun. Sam wants to be where the party is - he is social and funny and when people laugh with him or at him he is sort of pleased with himself. He talks to everyone and will ask for whatever he wants from whomever is standing closest. He played with a ball or a balloon for the entire party and ate only the frosting of the cake. Casey is more into doing his own thing - at one point we found him in the basement watching TV. He likes talking to people - he can talk your ear off, but can also be very shy or even embarrassed when he doesn't want attention. He stood at that cake and marveled at it forever while we got our act together to sing but didn't actually eat any. He loves wrestling with any willing participant and is really into his outside trucks and sand table. Watching the two of them grow into these unique people is just amazing!

We ordered a Thomas cake from a new local business, and we were so disappointed. When I ordered it she said she could do what we wanted, and on the day I was picking it up she told me that she wasn't able to do it, and so we got half our money back and a cake I could have decorated myself. Bummer. Casey and Sam thought it was awesome though and that's what matters.

Both sets of Godparents were able to be there, which was so great! Here is Sam with Heather and Mike -

And Casey with April and Carl

The amount of lemonade Sam drank during the party is still under investigation but my bet is a lot.

Sam's godparents look much more balanced than Casey's!

Happy birthday to both of your boys. It's wonderful to follow kids we don't see weekly any more. Bev P
