I don't think I have really said much on here about Thomas. He is a tank engine (Casey will correct you if call him a train). I think its safe to say that Casey is obsessed with Thomas. At any given point he is listening to Thomas, playing with his Thomas set, reading a Thomas book, or watching Thomas on PBS on Demand. Other than that he eats and sleeps. No joke! And if, God forbid, a moment does come along where he is not doing one of those things, you can bet he is standing very near to me asking to do one of them, over and over and over. It's actually a cool thing I guess - he is really into the different characters; he knows them all by name and he talks to them and has them talk to each other. He is using his imagination a lot which is great. We are grateful to some church friends that gave us all their Thomas stuff - we are very much indebted to them, especially since we went to a toy store and saw how much these trains cost! And I think it's clear from the picture that Mom and Dad have had some fun setting up the tracks :)

Sam is holding his head up enough that we have rediscovered the bumba seat. He didn't enjoy it for too long (that noggin is heavy!) but he did seem to like a better view of Casey playing Thomas. And how about that smile ...

There is so much to report here - I was introducing Casey to a new meal - macaroni and cheese with hot dogs - yum! He really liked it, and had left the table when we discovered that he had sat in a pile of blueberries, so we removed his shorts. He then hustled back to the table and got himself up into my chair and began to eat my dinner. He also ate a ton of green beans. And blueberries. We must be about to have a growth spurt because that's the most he has eaten in one meal in a very long time. I also have to note the presence of Obie under the table. He is ALWAYS under the table when we eat until one of us says - "Obie - GO". Apparently we have said this enough that now Casey will say it as well. Obie has been driving me a little crazy with his desperation for table food when his dish is nice and full. I did tell him when we brought Casey home from the hospital to give it time, eventually this kid would be his favorite person in the house. And he is - Obie keeps close tabs on Casey's whereabouts, especially if there is food involved.

Sam has some "first friends" in this bumble bee and panda bear on his bouncy seat. They make him smile and he is very excited to see them. Today it actually seemed like he was having a little chat with that bee. At one point today, he actually got the giggles. A very sweet sound, and a bit contagious :)

Here is a shot from Labor Day when we had some friends over -
Jacob (making a break for it), Peter, Elena, Eleanor, Kieran and Casey. Sam was in the midst of a "fighting sleep meltdown" so we will get him in next time.
And just a quick note about dunk tanks: Apparently 2 year olds do not find it fun to watch their dad be dunked in a dunk tank. I learned this yesterday when we were at the church ice cream social and Casey went from waving at Daddy to screaming hysterically (in my ear) as Jeff went under. He was splashing around and laughing but Casey wasn't buying it. We have been debriefing since then about how much fun Daddy was having in the water. Oh well, my mistake. Just another thing to cover with his future therapist.
