I know it seems weird that it took this long. Casey has said "no" to pasta for as long as we have tried to offer it. Every now and then he will have a little mac and cheese, but even that has been on the outs. So tonight I had leftover spaghetti and I made him a grilled cheese sandwich. He ate my entire bowl! So we finally have the required spaghetti face shot!

This kid is just so funny. His latest phrase is "cake ewe" which we are pretty sure means thank you. Even if he says it at the wrong time, his timing makes some logical sense. For example he says it when he hands something to you - grasping the idea that this is a word used in transactions. It sounds so sweet though, you hate to correct him. All kinds of other words are coming along too - downstairs (he loves playing on the pool table), fork (we wish there was a little more "r" in it because it sounds like he is swearing), on and off, up and down, and zip to name a few. He has also won 2 friends for life as he has now started to call Carl and Anna by their names. He stunned us all the other day when we were approaching them in the church hallway and he said plain as day "Anna!". Carl's feelings were a little hurt being the Godfather and all. But later that same day we pointed to Carl and said "Who's that?" And he said it! "Call". Later that night Carl came to sit with us at dinner and Casey said "Where Anna?". Awww. "Church" remains a favorite. He has figured out now that church is where daddy is - so he will point at the church and say daddy? Church? So far church is a place where daddy is and where we play with the ball and see our friends in the nursery. Could be a good marketing strategy for all ages really. :)
It's just fun to watch him putting things together like that - he also refers to all meals as "unch" and is learning how to throw a toy for Obie and actually wait for him to bring it back. And he is becoming quite the charmer. Not too long ago, if Casey was told no or asked to stop doing something he would get mad - he would hit something or throw something and watch for our reaction. Just this week, I will tell him "no" for something or other and instead of getting mad, he says super sweet "Mommy?" and then a big smile and wave "hi mommy!" Like "look how cute I am, you aren't mad at me, are you?" It's working pretty well for him.
It was St. Patrick's Day this week of course and I totally forgot to dress him in anything green. We got to day care and they had the place all decorated with shamrocks and pots of gold. They were actually disappointed - they all thought Casey would be all dolled up - my bad. Being 100 % Irish, I just sort of think of St. Patrick's Day as my day off - its the one day that everyone is Irish. But I guess that won't fly at day care. Next year! They did give Casey a cool green hat that he modeled for us later. New game - put the hat on and run super fast until it blows off your head. This is, apparently, hilarious!

Despite the new inches of snow we are getting as I type, we hope you all have a wonderful Easter!
PS - Check out cousin Amalia's blog sometime - new link to the right. She's a real cutie!
