Time away Up North

We are home from a few days up north. We were lucky enough to be invited to stay at our senior pastor and his wife's cottage which they recently remodeled and is just lovely. It also worked well into the schedule as we were able to come half way home Saturday for Jeff to guest preach near Flint Sunday morning before coming all the way home.

So, it was a nice, needed getaway and change of scenery. Someone at church last night asked me - What did you do up there - ski? snowboard? sled? skate? snomobile? Nope. We just hung out. Sure we undersatnd that most people going up north this time of year do one or more of these activities but we like to sit around. Although next year, I will be getting Casey up on skis! He isn't old enough this year and I don't think skiing is encouraged during pregnancy - so next year it is!

Vacation means different things to different people. To Jeff it means rest - sleeping in, napping, not staying up late working, and quality time with his boy. To me it means meals out of a box, reading a book, watching movies with Jeff and napping when Casey naps because there isn't a to do list of other things to do. For Casey, it seems to mean not wearing pants. Who knew? (would it be inappropriate to suggest genetics?) We decided not to make him wear pants - I mean it was just us and the heat was on, and you'll notice that tantrums were not on any of our lists of what vacation means. We didn't get a picture of that look though. Casey also really enjoyed the awesome stash of toys that Jack and Judy have aquired for their grandson. He had a great time with the Fisher Price airport and Main Street. He also really enjoyed the kid sized barbie kitchen. He cooked more than I did!

Despite the cold temps we did play outside a little bit which was fun.
So we are home now and back to business in every way.
