Home from Vacation

We are back home tonight from a week in New England - specifically St. Johnsbury, Vermont and Boston. We had a really nice trip! We all did pretty well with Casey's first flying, thanks to some friends loaning us a portable DVD player with Sesame Street DVDs on the way there and a well timed nap on the way home. And we learned that new exploratory walker types need more room to roam than your basic hotel room can provide. We loved the scenery of Vermont and New Hampshire and found Boston to be a neat town that is a little confusing, even with a map. Jeff officiated a lovely wedding in the mountains, we met lots of nice people, and we spent some fun time with Casey's grandparents who were there too. Traveling with a 1 year old requires a whole new kind of mental energy - everywhere we went we had left one thing we needed at the hotel. But we made it - and it's so good to be home. These next two were taken in Rockport, Massachusetts. We took the scenic route back to Boston and ended up there for awhile- a really quaint little town on the ocean.



We had never heard of the Dog Chapel, so maybe you have not either. It's in St Johnsbury and it appears to be the work of one man, an artist, who really loves dogs. We thought is would be a fun stop since Casey's favorite word is "puppy". This is a shot of the remembrance wall - people from all over send in pictures of their dogs who have passed away along with letters or notes to them or about them. Jeff and I were both in tears (as Casey toddled around muttering "puppy, puppy, puppy, puppy"). It was actually quite moving.
