Even though we didn't do as well on prepping for the schedule change
this year as we did last year -the boys shot out of bed this morning
and wanted to know how many minutes until we could get going. They
scarfed down their breakfast, got dressed in record setting time, and
even after I took a bunch of pictures, we needed to wait around awhile.
How awesome!!
We all walked over to get Casey into the 1st
graders line - I am so grateful we can walk - it was basically chaos around the school. It felt so different from last year. Familiar faces,
friends... no nerves. Casey wandered off from us and was visiting with other kids.
I just barely got a kiss in before he was walking into the building
without a glance backward. Incredible!
Then it was off to Sam's
drop off for 4 year old presschool. While it is the same program Casey
went to, there have been a lot of changes. Casey spent a total of about
5.5 hours a week there and Sam will spend 12. One of the teachers is the same, but the other two are new. Sam also found friends
right away - kids from his 3 year old group. We knew some parents. And
when it was time, he hopped into the line and waved us a quick so
long!
Both pick-ups were full of excited hugs and disjointed, breathless
stories of their days. Both boys had a great first day! We celebrated
at IHOP (naturally) and by the time we were home from dinner, there were
two very sleepy boys in back seat. A few books with dad and they
were out. Way out.
Here's to a great school year!

Sounds like everything went very well on the first day. I wonder how Mom's first day went. Quiet?
