Yesterday, I woke him up saying "This is your last day of being 5!' Which was met with tears and crying "but I LOVE being 5" Way to go Mom! But this morning it was all good - he was happy about being 6 and looking forward to his day. It was a gorgeous day today too. Casey was up a little early to go out for pancakes with Jeff. Then at school he got to share rice krispie treats with his class and participate in field day, which he loved. Then after school he was surprised to be picked up by Jeff and get to go see "The Avengers". Jeff had looked into it and asked around to be sure it was alright for a 6 year old - Casey LOVED it!! we are thinking it will take a few days for him to come down from that. Me and Sam met them for dinner and then came home to open a few presents. It's hard during the 12 days of birthdays to hold presents back, but we are trying to make a tradition out of a gift from mom and dad and a gift from brother on the actual birthday. The new remote control helicopter has already had its first outdoor adventure; almost lost it but it survived. And his new Star wars Encyclopedia is currently snuggled in his bed with him (thanks Grandpa!)

It's amazing to think we have been parents for 6 years already! In some ways it feels like Casey just got here and then other times, I forget we had a life before kids at all. Casey makes us feel like we do a pretty good job but I think its more that he is just a really good kid. He is considerate and compassionate, funny and smart. Casey has loved kindergarten and cannot wait to start 1st grade, because they have DESKS. Casey is eager to please and always willing to help us out. He loves his friends and even his brother. He is a sensitive soul who can get his feelings hurt easier than you think at times and he is often aware of the feelings of others. He loves animals and music and reading. He is almost 4 feet tall and makes me feel like I am shrinking. Tonight he told me he is never getting married - he will go to college to be an "instruction worker" but he is living with me for the rest of my life. So we have that to look forward to :) Happy Birthday Casey - we love you so so much!
