100th Day of Kindergarten

Casey has been looking forward to this all year -ever since we read "Ms Bindergarten and the 100th Day of Kindergarten" in the fall.  His class has been counting the days and at last it was here.  It fell on the 15th, the day after the Valentines party so it was a busy and craft-filled week.  Jeff picked the right week to be in Haiti!  Each student was to make a project out of 100 items - whatever they wanted.  I took Casey to Michael's and despite my (taking the easy way) suggestion of 100 little pompoms we could use to make a "100" on a poster, he went with the 100 foam popsicle sticks.  Of course.  There were 125 in the pack so he had to count out 100 of them.  Then we worked on our design and he had to count out 40 for the walls, 24 for the roof and 36 for the base.  Then he made the patterns.  I did the taping, but he was supportive.

He also had to bring 100 pieces of some snack item to add to the class trail mix.  He went with Cheerios on this one and had fun counting them out.  The idea of a bowl full of 29 sets of 100 things manhandled by a runny nose kindergartener is just delightful isn't it?  Happy 100th Day!
