Sam's answer was also consitent - "No fank you" We figured he didn't really get the concept. Casey must have filled him in though during one of their late night chats because a few days before Christmas he started telling everyone he could find that he wanted a drum from Santa.
Grandpa arrived on Tuesday allowing Jeff to be at church and me to get everything organized. The boys love having him here! Friday found us at two church services and out for pancakes at the little 24 hour diner near our house. After we were home we put out some graham crackers and milk (and a napkin thanks to Casey's good thinking) out for Santa. The boys got into their pajamas, we read our special Christmas books and they were off to bed after 11. They were very excited about Santa coming by and we chattering away in their bunks. I heard Casey say "Sammy, I really hope you get your drum". Cue the happy mom tears :)
Jeff and I were up for awhile yet doing our Santa duty and catching up with each other and facebook. About 2 am, we heard Casey crying and by the time we got to him, he had been sick everywhere. Thus began a 4 hour Christmas eve night to remember. At about 6:30, Jeff took to the couch while Casey and I collapsed into mine and Jeff's towel protected mattress with all of Casey's, Sam's and our bedding in the basement by the washing machine along with 4 pairs of pajamas and some bathroom rugs.
We slept a few hours and then we were up for the Christmas fun to begin. Casey was better - no appetite but what he did eat stayed put. The boys were thrilled with each new gift - we didn't go overboard at all and yet it still seems like too much in one sitting. But they were so excited - especially once the drum and the Stinky showed up.
The adults ate some yummy brunch and then we all settled in for a 2.5 hour nap. Fabulous. After that the boys were back to new toys and we all grazed on Jeff's family's traditional Christmas dinner.
We had a great Christmas, and we hope you did too! We get to continue ours in January when my family comes over. Should be ready for a few more new toys by then :)
