Quirks

Everyone has their quirks right? Let's take a look at a few that are developing around our house. Casey has a pink stuffed pig that has been traveling with us everywhere for about 3 weeks. He has a blankie that he claimed over a year ago and has been a consistent sleeping friend. Lately though, the pig must be wrapped in the blanket (remind anyone of school lunch?) It has to be wrapped tight and if it comes undone, so does he. Sigh. Casey has also taken to wandering the house during meals. He has other things to do, even though he was starving a minute ago. We invite him back over and over, and we make him choose to sit with us or sit in the living room (no playtime). Then eventually, when we are finished, we put his plate in the sink. Cue the meltdown. He's hungry. He wants to eat. Apparently he prefers to eat alone. And lastly, this week Casey has slept during quiet time in his bed, on his floor, in our bed, in Sam's room and in the guest room.
Sam has decided this week that he is over the whole feed me with a spoon routine. He bats away the spoon, making feeding him sort of like the windmill hole at mini golf. Instead he would prefer food he can feed to himself. So far he hasn't turned anything down and now we are looking for anything we can break into Sam sized pieces. He only has 4 teeth! Chicken, string cheese, fruit, green beans, pasta. He is sort of a bottomless pit, so we are open to suggestion! He is also doing really well drinking from a bottle on his own, which is great.
Sam is also preferring to stand at all times. He can't stand on his own but loves to lean up against the coffee table or a chair. No cruising yet, but its just a matter of time. I should also mention Sam's laugh- he has the giggles all the time and it is such a sweet sound!

We had some nicer weather this week so we were able to get out to the park. Sam loves to swing!! And Casey seems so much more grown up than he was last time we were at a park in the fall. He has a lot more courage and flies up the stairs and down the slide - head first, feet first, whatever - he was having a ball.

Vocab Diaries:
When we see a robin or a squirrel in the yard, Casey often tells me that they are "looking for their mom and dad" and he sometimes says it like a sad thing. So the other day I decided to follow up and see what this was all about. I asked him "Is the bird sad?" "no". "Is the bird scared?" "No, he just happy when they all together!" Awww that's sweet. No psycho analysis needed.
